about.

NGA NGUYEN is a Vietnamese artist specializing in natural lacquer called Urushi. Known as the East Asian or "true lacquer", Urushi derived from the sap of a deciduous tree - Rhus Verniciflua - originally native to China. The process begins with the preparation of birch panels, upon which multi thin layers of lacquer are added. Along the way, meticulous sanding and polishing between coats culminates in an extremely smooth surface. Making use of natural color palette in tandem with gold, silver, and copper leaf accompaniments, Nga strives to instill each vibrant work with a sense of serenity, unity, and balance.
With over twenty years of experience creating these fine art treasures, nothing pleases this artist more than sharing her vision with the world. Select a title from the existing collection, or commission Nga to make your own idea a reality.
Nga Nguyen has been featured in New York Spaces magazine, Westport magazine, Greenwich magazine, The Greenwich Times, Weston magazine, Island Home magazine, Dimensions, and The Weston Forum.
